At B Proactive Counselling, we realize that the thought of counselling may make many anxious, possible overwhelmed. We are hoping that from the moment you enter our office, you will feel accepted and know that judgement is left at the door. We believe that seeking therapy is a brave thing to do, and we feel privileged to hear your story.

Meet The Team



Barb brings over 20 years of experience to her practice as a Certified Professional Counsellor. She has a Masters Degree in Counselling, is an Accredited Music Therapist, and she is a certified Sexual Recovery Therapist. Barb also has years of experience in the areas of domestic violence, addiction and relationship issues. 

Barb's focus is on helping you find your authentic self. She can guide you through a process of taking a look at your current foundation to see where there may be cracks. Barb helps clients to recognize their own unhealthy patterns of behaviour and find solutions to further their own growth and healing.

Brian is a Registered Clinical Counsellor with a Masters in Counselling Psychology. His hope is to provide a welcoming and encouraging, safe place. He strives to make your goals his goals. Brian provides a specialized framework in order to help you overcome performance anxiety as an athlete or musician.

He encourages and teachers clients to stand up for themselves, while supporting them the whole way. 

Brian uses a client-centered approach, along with psychodynamic and solution-focused counselling. Relying on techniques such as mindfulness, self-compassion, cognitive behavioural therapy, motivational interviewing, positive psychology and boundary and assertiveness training.

He became a counsellor to make a real positive difference in this world believing it can start with each person individually. His philosophy is to aide client's discovery in finding their genuine self.



Sara is a Registered Social Worker with a Master's Degree in Social Work. She also holds a Bachelor or Arts Degree, majoring in Psychology, and minoring in Sociology. Additionally, she has received a Criminal and Social Justice Degree. Sara's main orientation of practice is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Mindfulness and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing Therapy.

Sara supports clients with numerous difficulties. Some of the main areas of focus are anxiety and trauma. She works through relationship reconciliation, trust within the self and others. She helps educate and offer strategies that are conducive with the people she is working with. 

Sara provides counselling services for children, youth, and adults. She offers an eclectic approach to counselling; utilizing different therapies that are client-centered based on their personalities of difficulties. She can help you with your healing and growth.

It is her belief that all people have the ability to heal and make positive changes to their lives. With empathy and validation, she integrates skills within these sessions to create a safe, relaxed and confidential environment.



A diverse work and personal history have taught me to accept people where they are at. I understand that everyone is intertwined with their unique context and is doing the best they currently can.


We can only work within what we know and, as we expand our ways of knowing, we actively change our worlds. By engaging, genuinely and passionately with other people we create conditions that allow for growth that otherwise would not occur. Through past challenges I have learned the value of having a safe space to explore new ways of understanding, and I strive to help create that space for others.


Over the past decade I have primarily worked in engineering but I have also worked in sawmills, renovations contracting, mechanics, solar power, and park development. I’ve taught martial arts and self-defence, and have travelled to 30 different countries. I’ve lived the challenges of marriage and divorce, am a half-time single parent of two young children, and am constantly working to evolve.


At B Proactive Counselling, we will help navigate you towards every resource available to you. We want to see you succeed in your journey to self-discovery and emotional well-being.
